Diane Delozier Lahr is a Secondary Physical Education teacher at City High School in Iowa City. As well as teaching at City high, she has also coached winning teams in varsity volleyball and soccer. Diane has led the movement toward greater accountability in PE. She helped write a PEP grant two years ago. This grant provided computers, exercise bikes,elliptical machines, recumbent bikes, treadmills, heart rate monitors, Tri Fit machines, and money for teacher training. Iowa City was just awarded a PEP grant for the coming year. She is very respectful of each student. She wants them to have a positive self esteem and be successful in physical education class. She builds a positive relationship with them. She is a dynamic physical education teacher who motivates kids to be actively involved in class. She is on the cutting edge of her field by attending many workshops. She is highly qualified in the integration of technology and physical education. She is an extremely organized teacher. In addition, she has the ability to work well with her fellow staff members. Diane’s leadership has had a major impact on our entire PE department . Teachers respect her and listen to her. She is a true leader. At City High School the motto is, “We are the school that leads” with Diane’s leadership and passion, City High School leads in Physical Education.
